Immediately following hurricane Katrina, The volunteers of the LVFC were out clearing roadways and searching the area for anyone that might need immediate help. Soon after, we made it a priority to help provide water and food to all that needed it. With no help from any government agency we began using our personal vehicles to shuttle water, ice and food from other major distribution centers to the Latimer community center, where we based our operation. We did this for three weeks with the water and ice and continued with the food and clothing an additional two weeks.
